Through proactive business development efforts and existing relationships we were one of six teams invited to submit a proposal for a new Horticultural Center at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens. Working with one of the firm’s principals and an architect specializing in sustainability, this small group developed this proposal in about two weeks. A key to this submittal was showing we understood their organization and needs. The Living Building Challenge (a certification for sustainable buildings) was mentioned as a possible requirement. So the team made sure to include our experience with this relatively new certification.
The submittal was electronic only (no physical copies), and I took the opportunity to model this proposal in a website type of layout (i.e., navigation links in the header, a constant footer on the bottom, and attempted to include as much white space as possible. This submittal had more text than a typical web page may contain, but in answering the Request for Proposal (RFP), certain requirements for narratives and project information was necessary.
